Margaret W. Metz

May 24, 1909 — March 23, 2001

age 91, of Southdale Drive in Kettering, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. She was born in Buffalo, NY, May 24, 1909, the daughter of Emil and Irene (Stern) Wilkinson. Peg and Theodore Metz were married August 11, 1944. He died in 1982. Margaret was a graduate of the Buffalo Seminary class of 1928. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1932 then earned a Masters in History from the University of Buffalo. Margaret taught school in Buffalo for a number of years. After moving to the Dayton area, she became active in the League of Women Voters, the Dayton Wellesley Club, and was a Charter Member of the Lenox Lane Garden Club. She was a long time member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church serving as Circle leader and on the Altar Flower Committee. In the '50s and '60s, Peg was a member of the Kettering Schools Advisory Committee. Survivors include her son Thomas L. and his wife Elizabeth C. Metz of Plattsburgh, NY; grandson John L. Metz of Boulder, CO; grandson Kenneth W. and wife Colleen K. Metz, and great-granddaughter Julia E. Metz of Clay, NY; and her dear friends in Dayton and Buffalo. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 23, 2001, in the Fairmont Presbyterian Church in Kettering. Internment will take place in the spring at the family plot in Buffalo, NY. Donations in her memory may be made to Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 3705 Far Hills Ave., Kettering, Ohio, 45429.
