Margarete Dingeldein Walsh

WALSH, Margarete Dingeldein, aged 98, formerly of Columbus, GA, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, in Centerville, Ohio. Margarete was born in Eberstadt, Germany, in 1926. Married to Robert Vincent Walsh, Sr., in Frankfurt, Germany, she became a military wife, often stationed at Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning) while her husband was deployed. She became a Gold Star wife when her husband died as a military advisor in Iran, in 1974.

Margarete went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree at Columbus College, and was a long-time active member at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She also had many friends among the German Heimatland Club of Columbus. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Eileen Feather, Robert Walsh, Jr and Barbara Corcoran, and had 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
