Marge (Marguerite) Bristow

BRISTOW, Marge (Marguerite), age 95, passed at St. Leonard Health Care Center on July 6, 2015. She was born June 17, 1920, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to the late Bertha and Charlie Walker. She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Bristow and brothers, Glen Walker and John Lapp of Jackson MI. Marge is survived by her three daughters, Mary Carol Bristow of Echoing Valley, Dayton, OH; Janice L. (Jan) Bristow of Salem, OR and Corliss A. Schubert (Bristow) of Kettering OH. Fondly remembered by nieces Patti Fenchuk (Gary) of Richmond, VA and Jacquie Beato (Michael) of Buffalo, NY. Extended families: Dautermans (Cincinnati), Burns (Dayton) and Jacobs (Dayton). Marge worked tirelessly for numerous organizations including UCP, Resident Home Assoc., Echoing Valley and URS (United Rehabilitation Services). Over the past fifty years Marge raised funds for all of these organizations. Some of her awards include: URS Legacy Lifetime Award 2006, URS Advocate Award for lifetime of dedication and outstanding service to Persons with CP, Erin Ritchey Award 2004, Mary O'Leary Lifetime Achievement Award 1996, Thomas Bankston Lifetime Achievement Award 1989, MID Gaddis Distinguished Service award 1983, President of the Board for Resident Home Assoc. 1974-1976, Dayton Daily News Ten Top Women Award 1973. Until recently, Marge appeared yearly on the URS telethon with Mary Carol to raise funds for the organization. Marge has always fought for the recognition and dignity of people with special needs. She was a pioneer in providing resident homes for people with special needs. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH with family greeting friends two hours before the service.
