Maria Prieto

PRIETO, Maria, (Koutra) passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Maria is survived by Julio, her husband of 56 years; her daughters, Eleni Prieto and Lorie Prieto-Wells; and three beloved grandsons, Graham and Alexander Garrison, and Colby Wells. She is also survived by her brother Spiro and a sister Alexandra, and a host of relatives in Agion, Greece where she was born on Feb. 17, 1932. Maria came here in 1952 to attend the University of Dayton. She earned an associate degree from Sinclair, a B.S. degree and her Masters degree from Wright State. Maria began her career working at Dayton Children's Psychiatric Hospital Acute Care Unit, and retired from TVBH (Dayton Mental Health Center). Maria was an active member of her church, loved by her family and friends, respected by her co-workers. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, Oct. 27th at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Trisagion prayers at 6:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 N. Belmont Park Drive, burial following at Woodland Cemetery. Donations can be made to Daybreak, 605 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton, OH 45402 or to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, to memorialize her passion for friends, family and children in need.
