COOPER, Martha L., age 79, passed on Thursday, March 21, 2024. She was born October 21, 1944 in Clay County, Alabama; the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Dunaway) Fant. Along with her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; beloved children, Debra and Ray, Jr.; and brothers, Donald, Jerry, and Gene Fant. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Crowe; grandchildren, Daniel Crowe and Taylor Crowe; brother, Frankie (Linda) Fant; sister, Linda Rodriguez-Fant; nephews, Frankie Fant, Jimmy Fant, Steve Turner, and many other nieces and nephews; cousins, Benny (Susan) Marney and Diana Moraitis; and dear friends, Brenda and Maddie.
Martha graduated William Maxwell High School in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating she began working at the credit bureau. She married Ray Cooper and eventually moved to the Dayton area after having their first two children, Debra and Ray, Jr. After moving to Dayton, they had another child, Sherrie. She was a homemaker until Ray began his own business where she assisted Ray daily as well as working retail. Martha loved to sew and read. What she loved most was spending time with her family, especially visiting with her brother and her grandchildren. Martha was an excellent, caring, and devoted mother and grandmother.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date by the family.
