McWHIRT, Mary Carol "Biesemeier", age 89, of Kettering, OH passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013.
Mrs. McWhirt was born on March 13, 1923 in Colon, Panama to the late Mary Elizabeth Woodall Biesemeier and RAdm. Harold Biesemeier. Her mother's family owned and operated the well-known Woodall Shipyard of Baltimore, Maryland. Her father, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the George Washington University Law School, served as both the naval negotiator for the Base-Lease Agreement with Winston Churchill prior to World War II and as the naval prosecutor for the court martial of Admiral Kimmel.
Mrs. McWhirt was a graduate of the George Washington University and the University of Dayton. She worked on the China desk for the Office of Strategic Services, and later with the CIA. She was employed for 17 years as a Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio.
The organizations Mrs. McWhirt was involved with include Phi Beta Kappa, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Gamma Mu, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also an active member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Mrs. McWhirt was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Harold W. Biesemeier, and her husband Dr. Joseph Russell McWhirt. She leaves three children, James Woodall (Trudy) McWhirt of Mandeville, LA, Dr. Edward B. (Beth) McWhirt of Fulton, KY and Elizabeth A. McWhirt of Alexandria, VA; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2pm on February 13, 2013 at Christ Episcopal Church, 20 W. First St, Dayton, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
