Mary Healey Donnelly passed away on September 1st, 2024. She was 92. Mary was born on July 27th, 1932, in Schenectady, New York, to Michael and Marion Healey.
She graduated from the University of Rochester in 1954. Following graduation, she taught second grade in Schenectady, where she met her husband, Jack Donnelly.
A gifted pianist, Mary was a beloved teacher to generations of Oakwood children, who remember her kindness and patience. She was devoted to her five children and their families, and an active member of the community. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Dayton, a member of the Four Seasons Garden Club, served as president of the Ohio Music Teachers Association, a long-time member of the Dayton Country Club and Holy Angels Catholic Church.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family: her children, John (Suzanne) Donnelly, Ann (Michael Toth) Donnelly, Thomas Donnelly, William (Lori) Donnelly, and Sarah (Jeffrey) Hopkins; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Miles, Andrew, Charles, Eleanor, Imelda, Jack, Alexander, Josephine, Catherine, Katherine, and Jane and her great-granddaughter Evelyn; and her brothers, Daniel Healey and Richard (Patricia) Healey.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Donnelly, after 48 years of marriage and her parents, Michael and Marion Healey. Her unwavering love, remarkable strength, and steadfast dedication to her family and friends will be cherished and remembered fondly.
We wish to thank Mary’s incredible circle of friends, her wonderful caregivers, as well as St. Leonard and hospice. Mary was particularly blessed to have many people who loved her and helped her maintain her independence for many years.
A celebration of Mary's life will take place on Friday, September 6, 2024, beginning at 11:00 am at Holy Angels Church in Dayton, Ohio, with a visitation scheduled for one hour before the service.
