Mary Elizabeth Shepherd

SHEPHERD, Mary Elizabeth (Lowther), age 84, of Bethany Lutheran Village, Centerville, died in the company of her sister Jean Sperling and niece, Sandra and Roscoe Mills, Thursday, November 22, 2001, in Miami Valley Hospital, after a short illness. Mary was born in Clarksburg, WV, December 17, 1916, the daughter of Otis and Eva Lowther. She was a very active volunteer for many organizations in Dayton, Kettering and Centerville. Mary was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Dayton Art Institute, United Methodist Women's Organization, Joanna group and volunteers group, Kettering Suburban Senior Citizens. She also was an active golfer. Preceded in death by her husband, William Shepherd; her parents; three brothers, Jim, Robert and Steve Lowther; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Andy Ferrando; and brother-in-law, Daniel Sperling. Survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Edgar and Freda Lowther of Mt. Clare, WV, William and Mary Alice Lowther of Bridgeport, WV; sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Cecil Foreman of Nutter Fort, WV and Jean Sperling of Poquoson, VA; and sisters-in-law, Lena Lowther of Lost Creek, WV, and Betty Lowther of Bridgeport, WV; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, in Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, with Dr. Judy Hadley officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service. Burial in Seventh Day Baptist Brick Church Cemetery, Lost Creek, WV.
