Emelda Dahms passed away on August 19th, 2013 at the age of 63.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Spenard and her brother, Raymond Lovejoy, both of Middlebury, Vermont.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of Lebanon, OH; her sisters, Anne Goodrich, of Derry, New Hampshire, and Rose Rishell of Fredericksburg, Virginia; her brother, Andre Spenard, of Gresham, Oregon and a host of loving relatives and friends.
Emelda was born in Wyndotte, Michigan, on March 16, 1950. She graduated from Middlebury Union High School and Tufts University. Emelda held a number of positions during her working life including Register of Sinclair Community College and Office Manager for The Architectural Group of Dayton, Ohio.
She was a "world class" jigsaw puzzler, placing high in a number of national competitions. Emelda was also known far and wide for her dynamite Christmas cookies. She was an accomplished hiker who backpacked on some of the most spectacular trails in American West and the Canadian Rockies.
For her tireless volunteer work on various local races, Emelda was inducted into the Dayton Running Hall of Fame. She enjoyed tending to her beloved flowers; reading French novels (in the original French); and petting large, fluffy cats. Emelda never had a harsh word for anyone. She loved life and hers was a life well lived.
We will miss her terribly.
According to Emelda's wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
