Mary Jane Farrell

FARRELL, Mary Jane, Age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2022, with her husband, Mark, and her children by her side in Kettering, OH. The middle of nine children, she was born on May 25, 1946, in Clinton, Iowa, to the late Helen Sullivan (nee Murphy) and Kenneth John Sullivan, Sr. Mary Jane was a teacher, mother, grandmom, sports enthusiast, coach, and held many other roles in her community and Church. She and Mark celebrated 52 years of marriage and raised a large, loving, close-knit family. She fiercely loved her husband and family of 7 kids, showcasing this love by supporting them in every endeavor with zeal and encouragement. Mary Jane and her husband Mark worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their kids; being the loudest fan in the bleachers at their sporting events, or spending hours sitting and talking with them about what was going on in their lives. She would proudly boast about their 7 children: Shannon (Chris) Santella, Bridget (Robert) Moorehead, Mark Jr. (Shannon) Farrell, Matthew (Carolyn) Farrell, Meghan (Shamus) Kelley, Michael (Gretchen) Farrell, Kasey (Michael) Scully and their 25 grandchildren.

Mary Jane was well-loved by everyone that knew her, and she always made time for others. She was the life of the party, always there to celebrate a victory, and conversely, lament the moments of struggle. Mary Jane was extremely faith-filled, attending daily Mass at St. Albert the Great Parish. Her passion for life and love of family have been passed down among the generations and her legacy will continue on through her eternal love.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, April 1, 2022, at St. Albert the Great Church, 3303 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be made to the Mary Jane Farrell Memorial Fund at Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School.
