In Celebration of Maudie “Molly” Jacobs Rosselli
Born on October 19th, 1924, Maudie would have been 100 years old today if she had not been taken home to Heaven on December 16th of 2011.
Born in Waynesburg Kentucky, her Mom, Bertha Sowders Jacobs, and her Dad, Hugh Jacobs, passing in the early/late 1950’s & Sister Lucy Lanigan were all there in Heaven when she arrived, Maudie had 12 other siblings in the Jacobs family, but only Lucy, Roby, and Magdalane had grown into adult hood. The others passed under 3 years old from different childhood diseases at the time. The family owned a General Store and ran a farm to help supply the store. There’s a road named after the family, called Jacobs Loop in Waynesburg KY. There is also a family cemetery there as well.
She loved to travel. So, when she was 15, she was put on a bus with other girls from the area, to travel to Dayton, Ohio where she would work at Wright Patterson AFB, sending money home.
That’s where she met Donald Rosselli and married him not long after they met in the mid 1940’s, then divorced in 1961. There were 3 daughters, Sandra Rosselli Koogler/husband Bob Koogler, Donna Rosselli Benton/husband Richard Benton, & Terri Rosselli.
Maudie became a single parent to a 1-year-old still at home. She went into the Food Service industry, and worked at The Greene Country Club, The Colony House, & Hasty Tasty as a server. She loved her job and was EXCELLENT at it. She had many friends from those places, and one that she let live with us when she and her daughter didn’t have a place to live.
She loved to cook, and make sure that if you came to visit, there was something to “pull out of the freezer”. Whether it was this awesome Apple Cake that she used to make, or peanut butter cookies she always made sure there was something to have there, and enough to send you home with some.
She loved flea markets, yard sales and auctions in downtown Fairborn on a Saturday night.
She loved watching Hee Haw, The Lawrence Welk Show, and ANY and ALL country music. She loved to sew & dance, and on Saturday mornings she could be heard singing along with the radio in the kitchen making breakfast. She was a good singer.
She loved her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Grands - Mark Koogler/Derek Koogler, Theresa Koogler/Johnathon Koogler/Felica Koogler, Scott Koogler/Scott “Jr” Koogler, Shawn Benton/Wife Susan Benton/Sidney Benton, Todd Benton, Matthew “Rowdy” Benton, and Anthony Rosselli, Angelo Jacobs, & Dan Jacobs.
She is Loved & MISSED every day, and it is known that when the Lilacs come out, it’s a signal from her that she is fine, and still watching over us.
Happy Birthday Mom
