WENZLER, Max, age 86, the last of the Wenzler brothers died at his home on Saturday, September 17, 2005 surrounded by his loving wife, Pauline and their children Karen, Matthew, Michael and several grandchildren. He was born on January 18, 1919 and graduated from Kiser High School in 1937, where he excelled in basketball and football. With his brothers, they owned and enjoyed breeding and racing thoroughbred horses. Later in life, he enjoyed playing golf. Max and his brothers started their construction business, Wenzler Brothers Construction Co., in 1945. They built over a thousand homes and several commercial properties in the Dayton area. They were part of the Oakcreek Development, which was one of the largest and most innovative developments of its time. Max always preached “Quality” and “Do It Right the First Time.” He and his brothers were members of the Dayton Home Builders Association for many years. The Wenzler Park, in Kettering, was donated to the city in the early 60’s. Max was a longtime member of St. Albert the Great Church. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; daughter, Karen (Donald) Beard of Naples, FL; sons, Matthew “Max”J. (Toni) Wenzler of Washington Twp., Michael J. (Lisa) Wenzler of Washington Twp; grandchildren, Dustin and Kylene of Naples, FL, Nicole (Angelo) Mastro of Kettering, and Matthew, Amber, Ryan, and Marissa, all of Washington Twp; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 12 noon at St. Albert the Great Church. There will be a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery following the Mass. Family will receive friends on Monday from 5-8PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, OH 45420.
