SNIDER, Melvin, age 84, of Washington Township, passed away, Saturday, March 27, 2004 at his home. Melvin was born June 5, 1919 in Hopkinsville, OH to James and Lura (Lewis) Snider. He was a graduate of Kings Mill High School. Melvin served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations. After WWII, Melvin returned to Dayton. He married Florence Armetha Baker, of Dayton, OH. Melvin was a charter member of Normandy United Methodist Church where he was head usher for over 14 years and also volunteered for many of the church activities. He was a past master of Horace A. Irvin Lodge in 1975 and a present member of the Dayton Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, and beloved son, David Lee Snider. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Armetha and daughter-in-law, Debra Snider of Dayton; granddaughter, Andrea Snider of Miamisburg and great grandson, Gavin Lee Snider of Miamisburg; Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 31 at Normandy United Methodist Church, 450 W. Alex-Bell Rd with Rev. Tom Harry and Rev. Harvey Smith officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8:00PM Tuesday with Masonic Services at 7:30 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. In memory of Melvin, contributions may be made to the Lois A. Workman Scholarship or the Childrens Programs at Normandy United Methodist Church 450 W. Alex-Bell Rd., Miamisburg, OH 45342 .
