Merle Estelle Hill Pierce

PIERCE, Merle Estelle Hill, age 89, of Brighton Gardens died, July 15, 2004. She was a member of Christ Methodist Church, Kettering, OH. Merle graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor's degree and graduate work in English. During the 1950's and 60's, she served as a Girl Scout leader, President of the Cleveland Elementary School PTA, and an active member of Ohmer Park Methodist Church. Her professional work included administrative positions at the University of Dayton, including Executive Assistant to the Dean of the Law School. Merle was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Pierce in 1992. She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Patricia J. Pierce and Jane Ellen Pierce; 2 sons, Dr. Joseph E. Pierce and Frederick H. Pierce. 9 grandchildren, Matthew Joseph Mravetz, Peter Joseph Mravetz, Cari (Jason) Anderson, Joseph Aaron Pierce, Geoffrey Evan Pierce, Joseph (Sarah) Pierce, Nick Pierce, Michael Pierce and Brian Pierce; and 4 great-grandchildren; Noah Mravetz, Jordan and Connor Anderson and Jacob Pierce. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 8 Oakwood Ave. at Irving with Rev. Victoria Downing officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1-3:00 PM at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH.
