Michael Ray Howard

HOWARD, Michael, age 74, of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016. Michael was born on November 15, 1942 to the late Ray and Vivian Howard in Hyden, KY. He graduated from Fairmont High School, Cumberland College, with a Master's in Education from Xavier University and did continuing education with the University of Dayton. Mike worked as a teacher for Kettering School for 35 years and was a member of Fairmont football chain gang for 50 years. He was a faithful member of Church of the Cross United Methodist for 60 years and was an avid sports fan, UK supporter, NASCAR enthusiast and an outdoorsman, but most of all, Mike was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Adna Howard; sons, Darren Michael Howard and James Edward (Joann) Howard; beloved grandchildren, Tyler Michael Howard, James Blake Howard, Kathryn Ann Howard, Crystal Lee Dennard, Alyssa Marie Howard and Sarah Michelle Howard. He leaves behind his special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, beloved first cousins, wonderful friends and cohorts. Family will greet friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Church of the Cross United Methodist, 3121 Wilmington Pike Kettering, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of the Cross Memorial Fund, 3121 Wilmington Pike Kettering, OH 45429.
