SMITH, Michael Allen, “Miracle Mike”, passed away February 4, 2025. Mike was born in Washington, D.C. in 1955 and received his Master of Education from the University of Dayton. Mike was a professor at Sinclair Community College and a lifelong mentor who taught everyone’s favorite four-letter word…math. Mike’s talents were many, he was a devoted husband and father, sailor, volunteer, realtor, role model, and expert at delivering the perfect Dad joke. Mike was a generous individual who always cared for the needs of others and a kind husband who gave his wife flowers every two weeks for over 42 years of marriage. He was a resilient warrior, who put his trust in God through all of life’s challenges and handled them soundly with a smile and a pun. He is proceeded in death by his parents Bill and Connie Smith; brother Bill Smith; and sister Kathi McCarthy. He is survived by his wife and best friend Joanie; son Steven and wife Tiffany; son Andy and wife Elizabeth; sisters Connie Heffner and Jenny Baker, 11 brothers and sister’s in-law, 30 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, and 2 wonderful dogs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 7, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Ave, Dayton, OH 45409 with Father Dan Meyer officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation following services. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to The American Heart Association.
