DARRAGH, Mildred Elizabeth “Bettye” (nee. Andrews), age 87, of Sugarcreek Township, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019. Bettye was born to the late William and Ruby (nee Evans) Andrews in Belzoni, MS on August 17, 1931.
After graduating from high school, Bettye went to work at an Air Force Base, where she met her future husband, John K. Darragh. While her husband was assigned to Luke AFB, Arizona, Bettye worked for a United States Cleared Defense Contractor that supported the United States Air Force. The couple relocated to the Cincinnati/Dayton area where she raised her two sons.
Bettye was known to be a voracious reader, and was frequently found with a book in hand. She volunteered with TWIGS in support of Children’s Hospital. Bettye was a true southern belle and the glue that held her family together. Bettye and John were together for 66 years until the very end, reuniting just one day after John’s passing.
Bettye will forever be memorialized by her sons, Steven (Barbara) Darragh, Jay Darragh (friend Kathleen Rinehardt) Darragh; grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Caito, Bradley Darragh, Craig Darragh; great-grandchildren, Kierra, Brayden, Devin, and Graysen Caito.
Family will greet friends from 1-2pm on Friday, March 29 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N Main St, Centerville. A private funeral Service will be held later at David’s Mausoleum.
