WELLS, Millard Edward, age 88, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Otterbein Senior Care Center. He was born in Clinton, Iowa on April 3, 1927 to the late David Edward and Anna Wells. Millard grew up on the family farm and maintained a lifelong interest in the farm and Whiteside County. Millard was a devoted father and husband who enjoyed spending time playing chess and watching sporting events. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed traveling and prided himself on having been to all 50 of the United States. He was a history buff and was especially fascinated with the Civil War. After serving for the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict, Millard attended Northern Illinois University where he obtained both his bachelor's degree and master's degree. In addition to his parents, Millard is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Wells. He is survived by his daughter, Lorena (Phil) Levin; son, Ted Wells; grandson, Joshua; and his sister, Audrey Stewart. A memorial gathering will be held at Odell Public Library Community Room in Morrison, IL on August 15, 2015 from 11:00am-2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
