SPADE, Nancy Shell, age 79, of Kettering, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Dayton, Ohio and at the age of 2 was adopted by Luther and Helen (nee Corbett) Shell. Nancy was raised in Dayton and helped her parents run their lunch stand in the busy Dayton Arcade during World War II. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1948 and married Robert Spade in 1956. They lived in Kettering, raised four children and made life-long friends in the neighborhood. Nancy was a Girl Scout leader, literacy tutor and taught swimming lessons at Oak Day swimming pool. She retired from Alter High School cafeteria. Nancy is survived by her husband of 53 years Robert "Bob"; children, Susan (Jeff) Wehmeyer, Patricia (Vince) Madden, Robin (Greg) Rabideau and James (Jennifer) Spade; grandchildren, Anne (Paul) Cook, Ellen Case, Mary Case, Clayton Rabideau, Isabelle Rabideau, Bezuayehu Rabideau and Anthony Spade; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Noah Cook. A memorial service will be held on Friday October 23, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH. The Spade family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery.
