Nannie “Jane” (York) Carpenter (1926 -2024) passed away on September 26, 2024, at the age of 98 under Hospice Care in her home in Kettering, Ohio and has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born 2/21/1926 in Jackson County, KY to Delbert and Lecrecia (Moore) York. She is a graduate Annville Institute and Eastern Kentucky University and was a 3rd grade teacher for 30+ years at J. E. Prass Elementary School in the Kettering, Ohio school system before retiring in 1983. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kettering since its inception in 1957 until her death, where she was instrumental as a teacher and coordinator in the nursery, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by her husband of 75 Years, Verda “Carp” Carpenter of Kettering, Ohio and two sisters Glenna (York) Carpenter (100) and Nora Lee (York) Parrett (94) both of Annville, Ky. She is also survived by her two sons, daughter and their spouses, Robert “Mike” and Michelle (Robb) Carpenter; Martin “Marty” and Shannon (Tyler) Carpenter; Melinda “Mindy” (Carpenter) and Michael Thompson, and by her eight grandchildren and their spouses: Aaron and Nichole (Wieland) Carpenter, Sarah (Carpenter) and Metatron Gravity, Tyler, Cameron and Tristan Carpenter, Michaela (Thompson) and Dean Hewines; Mackenna and Mackenzie Thomspon, and seven great grandchildren: William, Alayna and Wesley Carpenter; Apollo, Jake, Peace and Phoenix Gravity.
Visitation will be held at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd, Kettering, Ohio on September 30, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm.
Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm with funeral services to follow on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 1pm at Lakes Funeral Home, 1181 Main Street, McKee, Kentucky 40447, with burial and grave side service held at Medlock/Annville Cemetery, Annville, Kentucky 40402.
