Natalie Fay Harris

HARRIS, Natalie Fay (nee Sutton), age 81, of Oakwood, formerly of Steubenville, OH passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, after a long & courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born on September 10, 1931 in Richmond, OH to the late William and Ethel Sutton. Natalie was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson Union High School in Richmond, OH where she was a majorette and avid participant in diverse academic clubs. In 1954 she married William and began their journey together, living in Kent OH, St. Louis MO, Omaha NE, Chicago IL and finally Dayton. Her outgoing personality, "can do" positive attitude and deep spiritual faith touched many who knew her. She was a staunch member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Fairhaven Church. She was a "hands on" contributor and passionate volunteer for church functions: she organized and cooked to feed the poor, helped with Habitat for Humanity, taught Sunday school, attended bible studies and assisted in managing many rummage sales. Natalie was a history buff and an avid book reader, her favorite being the bible, and enjoyed her many travels both in the U.S. and abroad. She is survived by her loving husband from whom she departed on their 59th wedding anniversary, William R. Harris. Natalie also leaves behind her children: Valerie Bowling of TX, Leslie Harris of Cleveland and William "Greg" (Karin) Harris of Oakwood; grandchildren, Tyler, Virginia and Sarah; and brother, Thomas (Arlene) Sutton of Carrollton, OH, as well as many other dear relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Halford Sutton, Rev. John Sutton, Shirley Sutton and Jane Sizemore. A funeral service will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. Family will greet friends following the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Natalie's name to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420.
