BATLAS, Nicholas T. Nick, age 80, of Centerville passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008. Nick was a former educator and athletic coach and worked as a real estate broker and appraiser for many years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and visiting friends from afar. Preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Calliope Batlas; brother, Chris Batlas. Nick is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Ruby Esther Ward; daughter, Constance (Chris) Apalodimas of Memphis, TN; granddaughter, Leah Apalodimas; son Paul Batlas of Kettering, OH; step-son, Philip L. (Karen) Hurley of Lanse, MI; step-grandsons, Philip L. Hurley II, of Ashville, NC and Edward Hurley, USMC; step-granddaughters, Elizabeth Hurley of Ispheming, MI, step-daughter, Sharon (David) Short of Centerville, OH, step-granddaughters, Katherine Short of Centerville, OH and Gwendolyn Short of Centerville, OH; sisters, Catherine Agoris and Mary Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton with Father Mark Emroll officiating. Burial in Miami Valley Memory Gardens cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville with Trisagion prayers during visitation.
