Nina Bennett Spears

SPEARS, Nina Bennett, age 95, of Beavercreek, OH went to her heavenly father on 12/8/10 at the Hospice of Dayton. She was born on May 31st, 1915 in Avoca, IN to Rex and Lucy Bennett. As the oldest daughter she helped her parents with the raising of her eight younger brothers and sisters. She grew up in a religious, happy and loving family. She graduated with a Life Time Education Degree from Central Normal College and taught in Needmore, IN, Oolitic, IN and Dayton, OH. She married Harold Spears in 1942 and they had over fifty wonderful years together. She was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church now the Dayton Vineyard for over sixty years. She was a pre-school teacher, Sunday school teacher, Youth Advisor, member of the Mary and Martha Circle, the Sixty plus Club and the Keen Ager Group. She was very active in the E.J.Brown and Colonel White PTA’s. Nina was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Lucy Bennett, husband of fifty years Harold Spears, sisters Gayle Comboy, Mary Wohlfeld, Dorothy Hayes, brothers Athol Bennett and Wayne Bennett. Nina is survived by her three children, Sally Talty, Robert Spears, and Nancy Dilldine; in-laws Robert Talty, Larry Dilldine; five grandchildren Brian Weaver and wife Laura, Samuel Dilldine and wife Jennie, Kevin Weaver and friend Erika, Andrew Dilldine and wife Amy, Michael Spears and fiancé Ashley and his mother, Cindy Spears; five great grandchildren Alena and Ian Weaver, Jordan and Jacob Dilldine and Adysan and soon to be Abigail Dilldine; sisters Vivian Binkley of Hendersonville, NC., Alice Mae Armstrong of Burke, VA., brother David Michael Bennett of Bedford, IN and sisters in law Thelma Spears of West Milton, OH, Barbara Spears of Indianapolis, IN, June Spears of Bedford, IN and many other wonderful nieces, nephews and special friends. A celebration of Nina’s life will be held at Routsong Funeral Home at 2100 E. Stroop Rd, in Kettering, OH on Tuesday evening December 14th at 6pm. Family will greet friends until 8PM following the service. Graveside services will be on Wednesday at 1:30PM at Greenhill Cemetery in Bedford, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hospice of Dayton at 324 Wilmington Avenue in Dayton, OH 45420-1885 in mother’s name.
