died Thursday, March 8, 2001 at Bethany Lutheran Village. He was born on April 9, 1920, in Boston, MA. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeannette Kittredge Lacouture, by his sons and daughter-in-law, Peter and Margaret of Exeter, RI, Paul of Dayton; his daughters and son-in-laws Linda and Walter Vliet, of Denver, Helen Lacouture and Kevin Newmark of Boston, Anne and George Penniman of Essex, CT; his brother John of Williamsburg, VA; ten grandchildren and one great grandson. Paul graduated from the Roxbury Latin School in 1938, Yale College in 1942, and Yale Law School in 1947. During the Second World War, he served in the submarine service of the United States Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He was commissioned an ensign in 1942 and left the Navy in 1945 as a lieutenant. Paul practiced law in Dayton for 35 years with Lacouture, Lynn and Williams, and later as a partner in Smith and Schnacke. He was past-president of the Ohio Land Title Association, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Real Property Section of the Ohio State Bar Association, legal counsel to the Dayton Montgomery County Parks District (now Five Rivers MetroParks), and an adjunct Professor at the University of Dayton School of Law. Sailing, naval history and woodworking were among his passions. He was a member of the Buz Fuz Club, Submarine Veterans of WWII and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 17, 2001 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon, Oakwood. The family will greet friends after the service in the church Cloister. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Five Rivers MetroParks Fund, 1375 E. Siebenthaler Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45414 or the Roxbury Latin School, St. Theresa Ave., W. Roxbury, Massachusetts, 02132.
