Paul Gerhard Schaefer

SCHAEFER, Paul Gerhard., age 71, of Dayton, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Paul was born on October 23, 1948 in Holzheim, Germany to the late Caroline and Paul Schaefer.

After migrating from Germany at 9 years old, Paul and his family settled in Cincinnati where he grew up and attended Colerain High School.

At an early age, Paul developed a strong work ethic which propelled him to a professional career in technical sales. Working for Hydrotech, Inc. most of his career, Paul quickly became known as an expert in the field of Fluid Power control eventually becoming Hydrotech’s first VP of Sales & Marketing. Furthering his career as a business owner he acquired Hydrotech’s automation division, Axitrol, before retiring to St. Pete Beach, FL in 2015.

Over the course of his lifetime, Paul enjoyed various hobbies such as swimming, bowling, and golf, but most of all, Paul was a people person, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and loved ones. His strong presence would light up a room, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his Son Paul Schaefer Jr..

Paul is survived by his longtime partner and wife Debbie Lawson; children, Trish (Steve) Falcone, David (Kimberly) Schaefer, and Lisa (Aaron) Davis; Jennifer Schaefer; grandchildren, Tim Barker, Lyndsey (Jake) Knipper, Courtney Schaefer, Chris Schaefer, Nick Schaefer, Justin Schaefer, Jayden Schulke, Josh Schulke, Lacey Schulke, Sydney Davis, Kensey Davis, Paul G. Schaefer III, Gabe Schaefer, and Rowan Schaefer; 6 great-grandchildren; and his siblings Hildegard (Lee) Dalton, Susan (Rick) Wilson, and Sylvia Ellert.

A visitation will be held from 2-3pm on Sunday, January 26, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering 45429, with a memorial service to be held from 3-4pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American heart association, wounded warrior project, or St Jude’s.
