RISNER, Phillip “Craig”, age 67, of Kettering, OH, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Craig was born on April 6, 1957, in Springfield, OH. He graduated from Springfield North High School, class of 1975, before enlisting in the United States Army. While attending Springfield North he was introduced to his future wife, Carol Palmer, in 1974, later marrying in 1976. During his three years of active service Craig served as a military police officer, and was stationed at Ft. Knox, KY as well as Hontheim, Germany. Following his deployment Carol and Craig moved back to Ohio where they started their family shortly after. He had a long career in law enforcement, and served as a police officer for several departments throughout the Dayton area, most notably Kettering, Yellow Springs, and Sugarcreek. Craig also worked at Kohl’s as a loss prevention supervisor for over twenty years before his retirement in 2020. Later in life Craig became passionate about fishing and spent many hours with friends and family at his favorite fishing pond. He was an avid football fan and could often be found in front of the T.V. cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals. He also enjoyed attending Reds games with his son Justin. When Craig wasn’t outdoors or cheering on his favorite teams he could often be found watching the latest film at the movie theatre. He took meticulous care of his lawn and found great joy in mowing the grass. Craig’s dutiful and caring nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Craig is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol Risner; sons, Jeremy Risner and Justin Risner; brother, Kevin (Cindy) Risner; beloved dog, Ruby; and other extended family and friends.
