SHERIDAN, Phillip “Bud,” age 85, of Kettering died from cancer on December 22, 2005 while in the care of Hospice of Dayton. Throughout his illness, Bud maintained his wit to the end. He was a life long resident of Dayton, born June 8, 1920 and preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Helen Sheridan and sister Joan Sweeterman. After graduating from Oakwood High School in 1938, Bud attended Hamilton College and graduated in 1941 with a B.S. degree in political science. He was captain of the Hamilton golf team and a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. In 1941, Bud enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and rose to rank of Captain while serving in the South Pacific. Upon returning home from the war he married Pat Coleman in 1945 and began working in sales for the Univis Lens Company. In 1948, Bud founded Sheridan Safety Supply that he led and managed until its sale in 1989. Bud was a founding member of the Safety Equipment Distributors Association. A past club champion of Moraine Country Club, Bud will be remembered for his love of the game of golf, competitive spirit, sense of humor and ability to needle his opponents. Bud was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Moraine Country Club, 39ers Club, Ye Old Buz Fuz Club and the Dayton Rotary Club. He will be remembered by his loving wife of 60 years, Pat, their 2 sons Charlie and Flip (Jane) Sheridan, grandchildren Stacy, Blake, and Jeff (Rachel) Sheridan. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Oakwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420 or to The Humane Society of Greater Dayton, 1661 Nicholas Rd., Dayton, OH 45418.
