DANG, Phuong V., age 92, of Dayton, formerly of Vietnam, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2018.
Phuong was born on March 14, 1926 to Bang Dang and Nhan Pham and graduated from the National Academy of Government Administration. Phuong served as a member of the Congress of South Vietnam from 1967-71. During the time he served as a Congressman, he was invited to meet other dignitaries such as Pope John Paul, Governor Ronald Reagan, and Congressman Gerald Ford.
He moved to the US in 1990, with his wife, Nguyet, and his children, and settled in Dayton, OH. He is a longtime member and former council chairman of Dayton Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nguyet Nguyen, his son Lap Dang, and daughter Hoa Dang. He is survived by his 6 children, 13grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 6-8pm, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 217 W. 4th St, Dayton, the following day at 5:30am. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
