HENRY, Phyllis Anne, age 8o, of Kettering passed away quietly at home on October 23, 2016 after a courageous fight with lung cancer.
She was born January 10, 1936, daughter of Everett Earl Rensch and Vivian LaRue Ehrhard Rensch. She graduated from Fairmont High School and Miami Jacobs Business College.
Phyllis was passionate about family, travel and genealogy, visiting all 50 states in addition to being a proud member of First Families of Ohio, Society of Civil War Families of Ohio, and various genealogical societies. Though she would deny it, she also loved cooking for large gatherings. For over fifty years, Phyllis devoted her life to children and found joy in nurturing and loving countless children through her day care, and in opening her heart and home to numerous families and individuals in need. She dedicated many hours to charity through the Marianne Sunshine Society, and later as a volunteer reading with children at JFK Elementary.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 61 years John M. (Jack) Henry, Sr, a daughter, Jeannette L. (Timothy) Myers, two sons John M. (Lenette) Henry, Jr , and Jeffrey L. (Debra) Henry, grandchildren Danny (Sarah), Zachary, Alex, Evan, Brittany (TJ), Rachel (Kenny), Emily (Jayme), Eryca, and Trevor, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters Beverly J (Arthur) Bakos and Mary Linda (Jack) Stelzer, sister-in-law Jean M Secrist, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. She is loved by so many and will be greatly missed by a multitude of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on October 26, 2016 at David's Cemetery Chapel, 4600 Mad River Road, Kettering. Burial at David's Cemetery.
