With heavy hearts and joyful memories, we mourn the passing of Rachel Lynne (Allan) Sendi on February 1, 2025, at her home in Centerville, Ohio. Born on March 18, 1984, in Toledo, Rachel grew up in Sylvania and brought light and laughter into the lives of those around her. She gracefully navigated life as a beloved daughter, cherished sister, devoted wife, and a friend to many.
Rachel was a proud 2002 graduate of Southview High School in Sylvania where she was a member of the speech and debate team, marching band, symphonic band, German club, and National Honor Society. Rachel continued her academic journey at Wittenberg University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology with minors in marine science and geography in 2006. Her passion for life and learning found expression during her college years as an active member of Circle K, the collegiate branch of Kiwanis, and Beta Beta Beta, a biology honorary, embracing the spirit of service and scholarship.
After college, Rachel worked as a quality control chemist beginning her career at an ethanol plant in Riga, Michigan, followed by Cargill in Dayton, OH and most recently, her favorite job, where she was a Raw Materials Chemist at Adare Pharma Solutions in Vandalia, OH.
Rachel was not just an exceptional student; she was a cherished member of the Olivet Lutheran Church community in Sylvania, where she participated in the Jubilee Handbell Choir, bringing joy to countless congregants and community members with her musical spirit. A childhood cancer survivor, Rachel exemplified resilience and strength throughout her life.
Rachel found joy in the simplest of pleasures: the serene beauty of the outdoors, the warmth of family gatherings, and the enchanting spirit of Christmas. She delighted in the company of friends and family, engaged in puzzles, and cherished days spent antiquing, and being by the water.
Rachel is survived by her devoted husband and high school sweetheart, Ross Sendi, and a loving family that includes her parents, Barb and Paul Allan; siblings Bryan Faunt, Brian Allan (wife Shawn), Laura O’Rourke (wife Susan), Missi Allan; along with four nieces, four nephews, two great-nieces, and a host of beloved in-laws including Carole and Dave Sendi, sister-in-law Meredith Sendi (fiancé Dave Jackson), and brother-in-law Mark Sendi. Rachel leaves behind countless friends and family, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Rachel will be remembered for her radiant smile and kind heart, a spirit that touched countless lives.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, March 8, 2025, to honor and celebrate Rachel's remarkable life. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. All ceremonies will be held at Olivet Lutheran Church, 5849 Monroe St., Sylvania, OH 43560.
In lieu of flowers, Rachel’s family kindly requests that donations be made to Make A Wish Ohio, Kentucky, & Indiana, or to the Olivet Lutheran Church Bell Choir, ensuring her legacy of love and compassion endures.
As we bid farewell to Rachel, we carry her spirit in our hearts, a gentle reminder to cherish every moment and to always find joy in the journey.
