WOODLEY, Ralph G., age 87, of Centerville passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Hospice of Dayton. He was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church. Ralph was a graduate of Columbus North High School and The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years, leaving as a Lieutenant Commander. Ralph was an entrepreneur and developer in the Miami Valley area for 56 years. He founded Woodley Construction Company in 1952, later changing the name to Woodley Development Company, Inc. In 1954 Ralph organized and was President of Dayton Suburban, Inc., which developed land for residential, commercial and industrial uses as well as investment real estate. In 1964 he organized and was President of Donwood Construction Company Inc., builder of homes and apartments. Ralph was instrumental in the development and building of several subdivisions: Skyline Ridge, Woodbriar, Greenbriar, Croftshire Gardens, Shaker Heights, Gateway Commercial Park, Kettering Commercial Park and Centerville Commercial Park just to name a few. He also had an interest and was an officer of the Imperial House Motel chain, Washington Manor Nursing Homes, Moody-Woodley Management, Inc., Encrete Investment Company Inc. and numerous other enterprises. Ralph was past President of the Home Builders Association of Dayton and the Miami Valley and became a State and Life National Director. He was a member of the Engineer's Club of Dayton for many years, a past Councilman and the first Vice Mayor of Kettering. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Pearl Woodley, wife, Doris Ann (Dody) Woodley, grandson, Joseph E. Upshaw and brother, Gerald A.B. Woodley. Ralph is survived by 2 sons, James R. (Andrea) Woodley of Bozeman, MT and Gerald M. (Valerie) Woodley of Centerville; daughter, Jennifer Sue (E. Vincent) Santurbane of Petoskey, MI; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Dr. Robert Wade will officiate with burial following at David's Cemetery. Family will greet friends Thursday from 11:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home. In memory of Ralph, contributions may be made to JUMP, Joe Upshaw Memorial Project, in loving memory of his grandson, Joey Upshaw. JUMP benefits The Ohio State University Student Wellness Center.
