Ralph W. Korner

KORNER, Ralph W., age 88, of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Ralph was born on December 25, 1925 in Dayton to the late William and Viola Korner. He graduated from Stivers High School in 1944 and immediately following he served two years in the United States Navy during WWII. Ralph graduated from the University of Dayton with an Engineering degree. He also attended Miami University. Ralph worked for the City of Dayton as an Operations Superintendent until his retirement in 1988. He also retired from the Lockheed Corporation as a Director of Operations in 1997 and worked at both the Rickenbacker Airport (Columbus, OH) and Stewart Airport (Newburgh, NY). Ralph was a participating member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church and served as an Usher. He also volunteered at the City of Kettering Civic Center and was on the Board of the Aviation Trail. Ralph enjoyed anything that had to do with aviation and travel. He loved Corvettes, airplanes, and antiques. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joanne; children, Mike (Flora) Korner of El Paso, TX and Brad (Jody) Korner of Bloomfield, MI; grandchildren, Tom, Brian, Griffin and Paige; brother, Fred Korner; and sister, Jackie Steinbrenner. Family will greet friends from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00noon on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
