age 64, of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2002. He received his B.A. from Heidelberg College and an M.Div. from Oberlin College. Rev. Long was Pastor Emeritus of Oak Creek United Church of Christ, after serving there as pastor from 1986-2001. He served several U.C.C. congregations in the New Middletown, Brunswick and Canton areas. He currently served as a board member on the Dayton Ministry of Higher Education and the Church Development Committee of the Ohio Conference of U.C.C. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley (Summers) Long; 3 daughters, Rev. Beth Long-Higgins, Ms. Mary Long and Dr. Rebekah Long; 2 sons-in-law, Rev. David Long-Higgins and Sean Willingham; grandchildren, Andew and Hannah Long-Higgins; and brother, William Jung. Rev. David Long-Higgins will be coordinating the memorial service at 4:00 PM, Sunday, at Oak Creek United Church of Christ, 5280 Bigger Rd., Kettering. The Rev. Dr. Ralph Quellhorst, Conference Minister of the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ, will be one of several other clergy participating in the service. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heidelberg College, c/o Rev. John Long Prize Fund, Development Office, 310 E. Market St., Tiffin, OH 44883 or Oak Creek United Church of Christ, Carrillon Fund.
