Rev. Max W. Sellers

SELLERS, Rev. Max W. age 84, died Monday September 29, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Meyersdale, PA April 24, 1924 to the late W. B. and Ada Tressler Sellers. One sister Marie Bluestone preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, of 58 years, two children: Eric W. Sellers and wife Jill of Charlottesville, VA and J. Ellen Holt of Chapel Hill, NC, Also five grandchildren: Myles, Cozbi Ellen, and Kyle Holt, and Katheryn and Laurel Sellers. Two sisters survive: Elaine Meyers of Pensacola, FL and Lois and husband Roger Bowman of Deep Creek Lake, MD. He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the US Army in North Africa and Italy. He is a graduate of West Virginia University and Boston University School of Theology. He served four United Methodist Churches in Ohio for a combined 25 years. He chaired the Community Committee to have Sycamore Hospital built. In 1978 he joined Kettering Medical Center Community Relations Staff and later helped found the Kettering Medical Center Foundation. He retired in 1994 and joined the staff at the Kettering Hospital Clergy Care Center until the present time. He was a founding member and past-president of the South Metro Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of the Miamisburg Rotary Club having served a term as President. He served as Chaplain for the Washington Township Fire Department for 25 years. He was an involved member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Kettering. Memorial services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Road, Kettering, OH on Monday October 6, 2008 at 7 PM with visitation one hour prior to and following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church or Kettering Medical Center Foundation, 3535 Southern Blvd., Kettering OH 45429.
