Richard Arden Reeves, 84, of Kettering passed away on January 23, after a brief illness.
Richard was born in Xenia OH and raised in Chillicothe, the son of the late Marion J. and Florence A. (Owens) Reeves. He is survived by his daughter Julie Reeves (Leigh Mamlin), grandchildren Charles and Frances Mamlin, and brothers Keith and Ronald Reeves. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Anne, brother Roger Reeves, and sisters Jean Stonerock, Barbara Jones and M. Elizabeth Stewart.
After graduating from Chillicothe High School in 1951, Richard proudly served in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean War. In 1964, he graduated from Ohio University, with a BA in Business Administration. Afterward, he and Anne settled in the Dayton area where he spent most of his career as an accountant in the paper industry, until his retirement in 1993.
Richard was a joyful man with an infectious laugh who enjoyed all things outdoors, including his vegetable garden, riding the waves at Myrtle Beach and biking the rails-to-trails path between Yellow Springs and Xenia. Avid square dancers, Richard and Anne were involved in the Dayton square dancing community for over 40 years. They especially enjoyed traveling to dance conventions, teaching dance workshops and their many friends in the Kittyhawk Squares Dance Club.
Richard will be remembered as a generous, kind, and fun-loving man. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
