ZAJOVITS, Richard J. "Dick", age 80 of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010. Dick was born November 8, 1930. He graduated from Chaminade in 1947. After graduating, Dick joined the U.S. Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. He graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He worked for Frigidaire Division of General Motors/White Consolidated, where he retired after 37 yrs. of service and went on to work for Routsong Funeral Home. Dick was extremely active within the community. He was a Member of University of Dayton Flyers Club since 1972 and served as President nine of those years, Member of the N.A.D.S (Norms Avid Duffer Society), Member of the Toms Club, Member of American Legion, Post 598, Member of the VFW, Post 9927, Member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, and a regular at Kramers his favorite hang out and the place where he met his wife. Dick had an intense love of life; he particularly enjoyed spending time with his family, University of Dayton athletics, golf with family and friends, and spending time with his cats, granddogs, and watching birds. Everyone who knew Dick was touched by his vibrant personality, his kindness, and his warm smile. He will be greatly missed, but will remain in our hearts forever. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Mary Zajovits. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 57 years, Donna, children Bob Zajovits, Linda (Cary) Behymer, and Rick Zajovits, his brother Martin (Ethel) Zajovits, grandchildren Chris, Brad, and Michael Behymer, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 26 from 2:00-6:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 27 at 10:30AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, OH. Burial to follow in David's Cemetery. The family would also like to thank the ICU staff at Miami Valley Hospital and Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate care and support. Everyone that knew Dick knew he loved UD athletics, dedicating over 20 years as Chairman of the annual Football Picture Day picnic and co-chair of the Flyer's Club Annual Golf Outing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the University of Dayton Football Program at University of Dayton Advancement, 300 College Park, Dayton, Ohio 45469-2961.
