Richard L. Sackett

SACKETT, Richard, L., age 85, of Kettering, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at One Lincoln Park. Born in Alliance, Ohio on April 11, 1927 to Alvin Sackett and Florence Garrett Sackett, Richard was a 1945 graduate of Alliance High School. Richard served in the US Army as a Military Policeman in Germany during WWII. He received a BA in Business Administration from Kent State University in 1950. He was a longtime member of Lyndhurst Baptist Church and Mayfield United Methodist Church in the Cleveland area, and Normandy United Methodist Church in Centerville. Richard was a loving husband and father who was totally devoted to his family. Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Pauline; parents; sister, Dorothy Biggins; great-granddaughter, Sydney Sackett. He is survived by sons, Richard (Joyce) Sackett of Florida and Lee Sackett of Florida; a daughter, Nancy (Stuart) Allen of Bellbrook, Ohio; grandchildren, Greg (Michelle) Sackett, Doug (Dana) Sackett, Julie Sackett, Christopher (Jennifer) Allen, Nicholas Allen, Kelsey Allen; great-grandchildren, Alexa, Monika, Riley, Carleigh, Gavin; brother, Ray (Marti) Sackett; brother-in-law, Richard (Marian) Grate. The family will receive friends from 3:00 6:00pm on Tuesday, January 22 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, Ohio. Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 23, at Routsong Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jeff O'Guin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Honor Flight Network, 300 E.
