NORRIS, Richard, age 90, formerly of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, June7, 2011 at the Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
He was born in Preble County, Ohio March 13, 1921. Preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Anna Mae (Bright), his wife of 51 years, Florence (Trick) and 8 siblings. Richard is survived by his step-daughter Celeste Davie, son Michael (Bonnie), daughter Jessica (Richard) Delater and 9 grand-children: Chaylene Davie, Colleen Davie, Caralene Abarca, Abby (Mark) Sierschula, Anna Norris, Tresta Delater, Cayce (Aron) Armstrong, Ambry (Travis) Trochinski, Breson Delater and 6 great grand-children.
After graduating from Greenville High in 1940, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a mess sergeant where he received numerous awards. He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, retiring from DP&L after 25 years. He coached little league, loved the Reds, ping pong, horseshoes, golf, feeding the birds and squirrels and particularly gardening with Florence during his retirement. His total love and dedication to his family have left us all with a lifetime of memories. He will be missed.
The family will greet friends from 11:00AM –Noon on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Miami Valley Memory Garden Chapel with funeral service to begin at 12:00 Noon.
