Richard Mcvay Davis

DAVIS, Richard McVay, age 78, of Kettering, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2002. Richard served in the Army Air Corp. Pilots Training Program from 1943 to 1945. He received his Bachelor of English in 1947, followed by his Masters Degree in 1948, both from Ohio State University and was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. From 1948 thru 1951, he was on the faculty of General Motors Institute. In 1951, Richard attended the Sorbonne in France. He received his Doctorate of Technical Communication in 1957 from the University of Michigan. After 23 1/2 years, Richard retired from the faculty at the Air Force Institute of Technology. Richard is preceded in death by his sister, Marion Corwin. He is survived by his loving wife, Florence Davis; 2 sons, Scott (Carol) Davis and Christopher Davis; 2 daughters, Holly (Joe) Kenney and Maria (John) Doepker; 9 grandchildren; Charles, Laura, Anthony, Samuel, Andrew, Christian, Olivia, Matthew and Jonathan. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 16, at 10:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 S. Perry St., Suite 120, Dayton, OH 45402-1429.
