HART, Richard S. “Dick”, 88, died early Feb. 15, 2007 at Lincoln Park Manor in Kettering. He was born in Boston, Mass. on Sept. 1, 1918 graduated from Boston English High School, attended Bentley College and served in the Army during World War II. He nurtured a lifelong love of the Red Sox that was rewarded in 2004, when the team won the World Series. An accountant, he worked for Frigidaire, becoming controller, before retiring in 1981. He delighted in his wife and family, his faith, the beach, Big Band music, telling funny stories, grilling and cooking the perfect Sunday breakfast. For many years, he volunteered for United Way and the Red Cross; during his retirement in Bradenton, Fla., he did taxes for senior citizens. He also belonged to the TOMS club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty); 2 brothers; and 2 sisters. He is survived by his children, son Richard Jr. and wife Jan of Dallas; 2 daughters, Jane Collier, of Fairborn, Ann, of Tacoma, Wash.; and 3 grandsons: Stephen and Kevin Hart and Patrick Collier. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 at noon at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Kettering. Burial will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
