age 72, of Oakwood, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2003. Dr. Herman was a dentist in the Dayton area for over 44 years. He was a graduate of Fairview High School, Ohio State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Herman was a lifetime member of the Dayton Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Clarence J. and Hazel A. Herman. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy J. Herman; 2 sons, Dr. Michael A. Herman and Jeffrey C. Herman and his wife, Rolla, all of Dayton; 2 grandsons, Paul Downing of Dayton and Matthew Downing and his wife, Nicole of Covington; brother, Dr. Robert J. Herman; and sister, Barbara Krotts. Dr. Herman served in the U.S. Air Force as a dentist for the U-2 pilots. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, at Woodland Mausoleum, 118 Woodland Ave., Dayton, with Rev. William Yanney officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry, Pre-Clinic Lab Fund, 2400 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, OH 43210-1027. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Romer, his staff and the nurses on 3-South and Same Day Services at Kettering Medical Center for their loving care.
