Rita F. Price

PRICE, Rita F., of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Rita Fanget was born to Louis and Jeanette Fanget of Princeton, NJ, the youngest of five children. She was a talented singer and came from a very musical family. She graduated from The Maryland College for Women, worked for RCA and George Gallop of The Gallop Polls. She met Gayle B. Price, Jr in 1950 at the ice cream store on Nassau Street in a "chance meeting" he had arranged his senior year at Princeton University. After his graduation the next year, Rita and Gayle married and started their family with children Barbara (Rand Krumland), Matthew (Shary), Richard (Amy), Martha (Michael Richardson). They have eight grandchildren. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years Gayle, and her daughter Barbara. As president of The Junior League of Dayton (JLD), Rita's strength was taking an original concept for an organization benefiting the community and executing a successful stand alone corporation. Her fundraising and commitment to performing arts in Dayton range from long time Board Member of the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance and The Mariam Rosenthal Fund, to performer of the marionette Opera Puppets in the Children's Theatre Program she began 50 years earlier while at JLD. In 2000, she was named to the Dayton Daily News Top 10 Women of Dayton recognizing some of her positions of leadership that benefited so many Dayton families and communities. This volunteerism her work was one of her three passions. Another was her family, and her dedication and love to it were immeasurable. And everyone who knew Rita is clear that her third passion was singing and music, a passion she shared with Gayle and they passed on to their children and grandchildren. Rita will remain in our hearts as one who always had a smile on her face and a song on her lips. We are grateful to our caregivers, especially Keitha Bolender. Family will receive friends at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering on Thursday December 8, 2016 from 47pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Avenue, Kettering, OH 45429 on Friday December 9, 2016 at 12 Noon. Following the graveside services, the family will receive friends at Moraine Country Club from 2-5pm.
