SNYDER, Rita, age 95 of Centerville, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2015. Born in Dayton, Rita graduated with honors from Julienne High School in 1938. At an early age, Rita was an exceptionally gifted dancer and by high school was the primary dance instructor for the Botts Dance Academy. She travelled extensively learning and performing dances of world renowned choreographers then returned to Dayton and taught those dances to her students. Rita was also an accomplished artist, seamstress, knitter and especially enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and daughter Mary Donna. At age 15, Rita met her soul mate and 80 years later they still cherished their lifelong journey of love and devotion to each other. They married in 1941 and together managed the family owned Wishing Well Restaurant in Centerville. In the early 1950's, they built and operated the Kettering Recreation Center which included the Kettering Swimming Pool, Skating Rink and Putt Putt Golf Course. When they sold those businesses, Rita worked as a Beauty Advisor in the cosmetics department at JC Penney's. She was awarded their annual District Top Sales Associate Award every year of her 36 years of employment. Rita is preceded in death by her beloved son, Steven Snyder, granddaughter, Stephanie Phillips and brother, Edward Schlei. She is survied by her husband Stuart D. Snyder; daughters, Mary Donna Snyder, Sue (Larry) Swartz and Charlotte (Joe) Lodge; grandchildren Nicolas (Erica) Snyder and Tamara (Todd) Peacock; great grandchildren Chad and Sierra Peacock; and daughter-in-law Cheri Snyder (Tom Hinders). Rita's elegant beauty, dignity, serenity, grace and incomparable positive, happy disposition defined her life and will be eternally cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Private family services have been held. In lieu of flowers the family requests condolences and other remembrances be sent to the family.
