SMITH, Robert A., age 93, of Dayton passed away, Saturday, October 5, 2002 at Walnut Creek Nursing Home. He was a retired member of Local # 162-Plumber and Steamfitting Union. Bob worked for Mr. Tibbetts of Tibco Corporation for 25 years and Mr. Hughes of Hughes-Becthel from 1937-1957. He worked for Tibbetts Mechanical Contractors (Tibco Corp.). After retiring from Tibco Contractors, he also worked for Phil Tibbetts at Tibbetts Hardware and Centerville Mill for a number of years. He was a member of Oak Creek United Church of Christ, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and a 32nd degree mason from the Alpha Lodge #729 F & AM, Dayton, OH, ASHRAE Engineers Club since 1944. Preceded in death by his former wife, Manie Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Alberta (Maddix) Smith and his children; 2 daughters, Marilou (Don) Shough of Clayton, OH and Roberta (John) Jourdan of Summerton, SC; 2 sons, Terry Smith of Brooklyn NY, and Ronald (April) Smith of Beavercreek; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Kathryn Long of Englewood, Elnora Willhelm of Cape Coral, FL and Edna Sitton of Paulding, OH. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at 11:00AM at the Routsong Funeral Home 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Pastor Michael Carman officiating. Burial in Glen Haven Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family via the website at www.routsong.com.
