WHARTON, Robert B., passed away on February 23, 2003 at Kettering Medical Center at the age of 87. Robert was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Shiloh Lodge in Landsdale, PA, Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton and Antioch Shrine. He was also active in the Lions Club and a member of The Lutheran Church of Our Savior. For 20 years, he was an advisor for SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives), an organization that develops new, small businesses in the area. Robert was also active in the Cub Scouts and Little League. He worked for NCR from 1937-1954, then opened Wharton Cash Register in Trenton, NJ until moving to Dayton, where he was the managing director for the Independent Cash Register Dealers Association. He was the President and owner of Far Hills Office Supply until his retirement in 1978. Preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Wharton in 1989; daughter, Patricia Wooden in 2000, and granddaughter, Christina Inglish. Survived by his wife, Gladys R. Wharton; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jane and Rick Riedmiller of Loveland, OH, Judy and David Dunson of Martinsville, IN and Robert Wooden of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Laura and Robert Inglish, Karen Scrougham, Wendy Wells, and R. Randolph Wooden, 2 great grandsons and 5 great granddaughters. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 28, 2003 at 12:00 noon at the Woodland Mausoleum chapel, 118 Woodland Dr., Dayton. Family will receive friends from 11-12:00 at the mausoleum.
