age 84, of Kettering, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2003. He was born on November 9, 1918, to Harry and Sue Krause of Columbus, Ohio. Preceded in death in 2001 by his wife of 55 years, Eileen and his sister Margaret Reed of Columbus, OH. He is survived by his four children and their spouses; Sue Ellen (Ken) Lakey of Beavercreek, Linda (Brandon) Sohl of Barrington, IL, and Debbie (Peter) Brim of San Jose, CA; and son, Robert (Carol) Krause of Menlo Park, CA; 9 grandchildren, Ronald (Erin) Dues of Miamisburg, John (Cara) Dues of Kettering, Barbara Bechtold of Oak Park, IL, and Christine Bechtold, a student at NIU, DeKalb, IL, Michael and Natalie Brim, and Philip, Stephen and Teresa Krause; 5 great-grandchildren, Emma, Lily, Allison, Kyle and Austin Dues; 2 sisters, Virginia LeFever of Agoura, CA: Ethel Richey of Mt. Gilead, OH; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Werner of Wellington, OH. Bob was born and raised in Columbus, and graduated from Ohio State University in 1940. He then joined the military and served in England during World War II. After the war he continued distinguished service to the military as a civilian relocating to the Kettering/Dayton area. He retired in 1975 from the Air Force Logistics Command, at Wright Patterson AFB after 33 years of dedicated service. His career spanned the era of hand-written records to third-generation computers. He was instrumental in the development of the significant portions of the Air Force's supply manual and in the development of the standard supply accounting system for bases. At the time of his retirement, Mr. Krause served as the deputy director of the Air Force Logistics Command Directorate of Acquisition and Support. He received the second highest award the Air Force can give a civilian - the Meritorious Civilian Service award - in 1958. In early retirement, Bob was an active member of the WPAFB retirement club, and served as president and later treasurer of his investment club. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In later years, he was a devoted caregiver to his wife, Eileen, throughout her long illness. He was a loving inspiration to all who knew him. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Rev. Msgr. Lawrence Breslin officiating. Burial in Heritage Hills cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1-3:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
