BILLETT, Robert D., age 83 of Centerville passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Bob was born and raised in Evanston, IL. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester in 1947 where he was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity. Bob served as a Fighter Pilot in the United States Army Air Corps in World War II with 98 missions over Europe. He was a charter member of the P-47 Thunderbolt Pilots Association, past president of the 27th Fighter Bomber Group Association, member of the Order of Daedalians, volunteer and member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame and was a member of the Hithergreen Aviation Club. Bob was an extensive world traveler and he loved classical music. He retired in 1985 from Production Engineering Sales Company after 23 years as a Sales Engineer. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Florence Billett. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Audrey Billett; daughter, Margaret Hargis (Tim Murray) of Indianapolis, IN; sons, Jeffrey (Susan) Billett of Fairfax, VA, Jonathan (Gretchen) Hargis of Long Island, NY and Todd (Beth) Billett of Richmond, VA; 11 grandchildren, sister, Mary (David) MacMillin of New London, NH; brother, Lewis R. (Bea) Billett Jr. of Wheaton, IL and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Memorial services will be held on Friday March 2, 2007 AT 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Avenue, Oakwood with The Rev. John F. Koepke, III officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Church’s Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the giver’s choice.
