MILLAT, Robert Eugene, age 89, passed away on October 7, 2017. Robert was born in Germantown, Ohio to Gustav and Anna (Textor) Millat on January 25th, 1928. The youngest of 12 children, he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters (Gustav, Otto, Albert, Gertrude, Walt, Herb, Dorothy, Esther, Ruth, and David); a son, Michael Millat; and grandson, Robert Huber.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, L. Dolores Millat; sister, Anna Beall of Dayton; three children, Gregory (Sandy) Millat of Bellbrook, Andrew (Bette) Millat of Columbus, and Melinda (Paul) Huber of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Lauren Millat-Donoso, Ahna Millat, Zachary Millat, Adam Millat, Eric Baillargeon, Crystal Hershner, Melody Baillargeon, Jason Huber, and Mirian Huber; and 8 great-grandchildren, Dakotta, Michael, Marina, Hudson, Harrison, Faith, Asher and Owen; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
He is a 1946 graduate of Roosevelt High School, and attended the University of Dayton. Robert proudly served in the United States Army in Korea. He founded Millat Industries Corporation in 1966, starting in a tiny garage and growing to a company employing over 200 employees in two locations. He leaves a legacy of family love and wonderful friendships, as well as a thriving company being led by two grandsons. Chiefs (as he was known at the shop) motto for his company and in life was Everybody is Somebody. He was a founding member of the Oakwood Rotary Club, was Chairman of the Dayton Regional Manufactures Association from 1988-1989 - formally known as Dayton Tooling Manufacturing Association, and a member of the Dayton Bicycle Club, Dayton Country Club, Dayton Criterion Club, and Five Seasons Sports Club.
He enjoyed his family foremost, flying his Cessna (he earned his pilots license at the age of 70), gardening, playing tennis, and golf.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering. Private inurnment will take place at Davids Mausoleum at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
