It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Clair Flowers, a beloved husband, father, Pappy, and cherished member of the Crosspointe Church of Christ. Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on March 13, 1950, Bob touched many lives and left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Throughout his life, Bob excelled in various sports and pursuits, displaying not only athleticism but also a passion for life that was infectious. His devotion to his faith led him to become a minister, a role he fulfilled with unwavering dedication and grace. An artisan watchmaker by trade, Bob's skilled hands worked wonders in crafting and repairing timepieces, earning him a reputation for excellence. He was a hard worker & held several jobs throughout his life, some at the same time.
Bob's interests were as diverse as his talents, from collecting pocket watches to his love for primitive camping, hunting, traveling to visit grandkids with their various activities, and following the Newark basketball alumni as they went on to college. Yet above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, including his loving wife of 53 years, Mary, and their children and grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy and happiness into his life.
With a sense of humor as vast as his heart and a spirit as vibrant as his laughter, Bob will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for those around him. His presence at Newark athletic events and family gatherings will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to shine bright in the memories and hearts of all who knew him.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Clair Isaac Flowers, sister Carolyn “Grace”(Jim) Kimball, and his surrogate parents, Dave & Dee Powers. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Jane McCray, and three daughters Stacey (Chris) Kominar, Heather (Robb) Reichle, & Megan (Jeff) Bartosik. His seven grandchildren, Jakub, Jackson, Nathan, Brennan, MacKenzie, Harrison & Aubrey. He is survived by his surrogate brothers & sisters Eddie, Tommy, Glenda, Susan, & Vickie Powers. And his loving friends, Jeffrey Lannan, Jim Eastman, & Mark Lins.
A celebration of Bob’s life and legacy will be held at Routsong Funeral home Kettering chapel (2100 E Stroop Rd) Saturday November 2nd, 2024 visitation from 11-1pm with a funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. His family would like to thank the staff for their care and support during these most difficult days.
May we find solace in the love and memories that Bob imparted to us, and may his spirit guide us through this time of loss and remembrance. Rest in peace, dear Bob, knowing that your legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known you.
