WOOD, Robert Foster "Bob", age 88, long time resident of Dayton, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011.
Bob was an Army veteran of WWII stationed in India as an MP and a former police officer with the Dayton and Oakwood departments. He received his undergraduate degree in Education from University of Dayton and his masters from Xavier. Bob served as teacher and principal at Kettering schools and was the founder and owner of The Gas Light Academy. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Far Hills Lodge #784 F&AM and AASR.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother Don Wood and brother-in-law Mel Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn Wood; 'Teddy', his Jack Russell dog; brothers Dick and Lyn (Jenny) Wood; nephews Jason Wood, Eric Wood, David (Barbi) Brown and Bruce Brown; niece Melanie (Michael) Weiner; sister-in-law Betty Brown; and great niece and nephews Griffin Weiner, Lauren Brown, Nicholas Weiner and Alec Weiner.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 10:30-11:30AM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Masonic Service at 11:15AM. Funeral service will follow at 11:30AM with Chaplain Jim Hopkins officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at 10:00AM at Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 W. Third St. Dayton, OH.
